On Monday, December 1st, Anna Suzuki, who plays the role of Oshirobot Himeji Castle pilot Kiyo, visited the Himeji Castle Guest House and had a conversation with Himeji Mayor Hideyasu Kiyomoto. During the conversation, the mayor watched a new anime PV with the mayor, and exchanged opinions on topics such as the possibility of regional PR using anime works, attracting tourism, and disseminating Himeji’s culture.

“Castle Combination Oshirobots” Project Brings Anime & Japanese History Together,Expanding to More Castles in 2025
The “Castle Combination Oshirobots” project,an original content initiative from MIXI_ANIME,is gaining momentum with plans to feature robots inspired by even more of Japan’s iconic castles in 2025. The project reimagines famous Japanese castles as giant robots, aiming to spark interest in both Japanese history and the anime/robot genre.
The project began in December 2022 with a short animation directed by Masami Obari, showcasing Oshirobots based on Kumamoto Castle, takamatsu Castle, and Aizuwakamatsu Castle. As then, the project has expanded to include Himeji Castle (featured in a local event in March 2023), Fukuyama Castle, Nagoya Castle, Matsumoto Castle, Okayama castle, bitchu Matsuyama Castle, Odawara Castle, Wakayama Castle, Tsuyama Castle, Kishiwada Castle, shimabara Castle, and Hikone Castle.
In 2025, the project will add robots inspired by Hiroshima Castle, Marugame Castle, Goryokaku, Matsue Castle, Osaka Castle, kokura Castle, and Fukui Castle to its roster. MIXI_ANIME intends to continue developing Oshirobots based on castles throughout Japan.
A Collaboration Between Culture, Tourism, and Creativity
The project’s recent event in Himeji, a UNESCO World Heritage site, was met with enthusiasm. Uke Ukai, producer of “Castle Combination Oshirobots,” expressed gratitude for the warm welcome and highlighted the project’s goal: to inspire children to appreciate both the castles themselves and the anime/robot aesthetic. He envisions the “coolness” of the anime and robots motivating people to visit these ancient sites and experience their grandeur firsthand.
the Himeji Film Commission actively supports the project, recognizing it as a accomplished example of combining “culture, tourism, and creativity.” They plan to continue supporting similar initiatives to promote regional PR, tourism, and the creative industry.
