MikelS Basque Roots and athletic Club Passion

Coming from a Basque father, born and raised in teh ZUP of Bayonne and originally from a family based in Errenteria, in the suburbs of San Sebastián, Mikel has always been immersed in the passion of the Basque Country. The third of four siblings, he was raised with a love of football and in this dual Basque-Danish culture: “My father taught me a lot about Basque culture. He always taught us to do the best we could.”

“It’s the team of a lifetime. My family and I have seen many matches in San Mamés”

Her mother, Maria, also has, despite her Danish nationality, a strong attraction to the region: “At home, my mother cooks a lot for us and cooks traditional Basque foods. I am very attached to this food,” continues the main person, a big fan of tortillas.

Athletic fans

Pre-trained at FC Copenhagen, the kid has worn the colors of FC Midtjylland, the second biggest club in Denmark, for four years now. Loyal to his club, he does not hide his love for a entirely different team: Athletic Club de Bilbao. This time again, it’s his Basque roots that speak: “It’s the team of a lifetime. My family and I have seen many matches in San Mamés. I played in Athletic jerseys and tracksuits all my childhood and I don’t miss a single game.”
