St. Louis Blues Recall Forward Matt Luff from Springfield Thunderbirds

St. Louis, MO – December 4, 2025 – The St. Louis Blues have announced the recall of forward Matt Luff from their American Hockey league (AHL) affiliate, the Springfield Thunderbirds. This move, announced today by Blues President of Hockey Operations and General Manager Doug Armstrong, aims to bolster the Blues’ offensive depth as thay navigate the current NHL season.

Luff,a 28-year-old native of Oakville,Ontario,has been a standout performer for the Thunderbirds this season. In 17 games played,he currently leads the team in both goals (7) and points (14),demonstrating his offensive capabilities. His consistent performance has made him a valuable asset to the Thunderbirds and earned him this prospect with the Blues.

throughout his AHL career, spanning 296 regular-season games, Luff has amassed an impressive 226 points, comprised of 94 goals and 132 assists. He also has accumulated 192 penalty minutes, showcasing a willingness to play a physical game.

This isn’t Luff’s first experience in the National Hockey League. He has previously skated in 106 career NHL games with the Los angeles Kings, Nashville Predators, and Detroit Red Wings. During those stints, he registered 27 points (15 goals, 12 assists) and 20 penalty minutes.

The Blues signed Luff as a free agent on July 1, 2025, recognizing his potential to contribute at the NHL level.
