Pradas Changes Es-Alert to “Accents” in Valencian

One of the factors that led to the delay in sending the Es-Alert in the dana of October 29, 2024, which left 230 dead, was the linguistic issue of the Valencian version of the message to the population’s mobile phones. The then councilor Salomé Pradas, currently investigated in the case, requested that certain words in the message be changed in Valencian. “They make us change things because of the linguistic issue, because of the accents and so on,” said Jorge Suárez, deputy director general of Emergencies and a key witness in the case, according to what several sources familiar with the testimony told this newspaper.
