Santo Domingo.- The outgoing president of the Dominican Medical Collage (CMD), Dr. Waldo Ariel Suero, highlighted this Thursday the determined support that president Luis Abinader has provided to the health sector and the medical union, stating that the president is one of those who has contributed the most to the doctors of the Dominican Republic and that, without that support, the progress achieved during his management would not have been possible.
Suero recalled that at the meeting held on December 11 of 2024 in the National Palace, the CMD presented a list of 15 points, which were later expanded to 18. He noted that the president complied with 17 of those 18 commitments, including salary increases, incentives, improvements for pensioners and other long-awaited demands by health professionals.
the union leader explained that, in that same meeting, President Abinader instantly instructed the minister of the ministry of Housing and Buildings (Mived), Carlos Bonilla, to begin the construction and completion of the buildings that were inaugurated today, an action that he described as a sample of the president’s fast and effective response. “And the miracle happened, today 18 of the 20 buildings are being delivered. Thank you very much, again, Mr. President.“
During his speech, Suero also valued the work of Minister Bonilla, whom he defined as an official young, serious, honest and pleasant who always responds to the union’s requests and has contributed in a key way to completing the promoted projects.
These words were offered by the union leader during the delivery of 136 apartments of the housing project Dr. Leocadio Peña, intended for health personnel in the Dominican Republic, in an event headed by President Abinader.
The apartments have a living room, dining room, kitchen, balcony, three bedrooms, 2.5 bathrooms, green areas, gazebo, security checkpoint, parking and utility room.
Continuity of works is a norm of this Government management
For his part, president Abinader highlighted that his management maintains as a rule to give continuity to any work started, regardless of the administration or institution that launched it. “Because that is the people’s money, and in this case it was the money and sacrifice of the doctors.”
The president explained that it was Dr. Waldo Ariel Suero who initially informed him about the private nature of the work, carried out by a group of doctors who, with their own efforts and resources, had started the construction. Due to the inconveniences presented, they requested the support of the Government, which immediately instructed the Minister of Housing, Carlos Bonilla, to follow up.
the head of state took advantage of his speech to reflect on his working relationship with Dr.Waldo Ariel Suero, highlighting that, although there were sometimes differences, the same always prevailed: respect and common goal to improve conditions in the health sector. *”We fought several times, but not over d
