Sammy guevara and The Beast Mortos Crowned New ROH Tag Team Champions at Final Battle
Philadelphia, PA – At Ring of Honor’s Final Battle event on Friday night, Sammy Guevara and The Beast Mortos emerged victorious, capturing the ROH World Tag Team Championship. The duo defeated Tommy Billington and Adam Priest in a hard-fought contest to claim the titles. This win marks Guevara’s third reign as ROH Tag Team Champion, while Mortos celebrates his first championship victory within the promotion.
The match’s conclusion proved controversial, as interference from Hechicero played a pivotal role. hechicero climbed onto the apron, creating a distraction that allowed Guevara to deliver a low blow to Billington. Capitalizing on the opening, Mortos secured the pinfall with a moonsault, solidifying their win and crowning them the new champions.
This championship victory follows a period of uncertainty surrounding the ROH World Tag Team Titles. previously held by Sammy Guevara and Rush, the titles were vacated when Rush was unfortunately sidelined due to a knee injury. The injury also forced Rush to withdraw from a scheduled ROH World Championship match at Final Battle, which was subsequently altered into a Survival of the Fittest match featuring Blake Christian and Komander.
Prior to the tag team championship bout, Hechicero approached Guevara and Mortos with a proposition: collaboration in the Survival of the Fittest match for the ROH World Championship. An agreement was reached where Hechicero would support Guevara and Mortos during their tag team title defense, with the understanding that they would reciprocate in the main event. This alliance ultimately proved beneficial, contributing to their championship win.
