Storm Alert for Neuquén and Río Negro
A yellow alert for storms was forecast for Neuquén and the surrounding region. Rain fell in the city of Neuquén on Tuesday afternoon, and hail hit the nearby city of Cipolletti.
As predicted,rain fell in several parts of the provincial capital. The National Weather Service (SMN) issued a yellow alert for this afternoon for eastern Neuquén and western Río negro. The alert affects Confluence, eastern Añelo, eastern Pehuenches, and Picún Leufú in Neuquén.
According to the SMN, a yellow alert means the area will experience isolated storms of varying strength, some of which may be strong. These storms could include lightning, wind gusts up to 60 kilometers per hour, occasional hail, and heavy rainfall in a short time. Rainfall is expected to be between 10 and 20 mm, and might potentially be higher in some areas.
The neighboring city of Río Negro was also affected by hail, though it didn’t last long. A large tree fell onto route 151.
