Woman Stabbed in Unprovoked Attack at Macy’s Herald Square; Suspect in Custody
New York,NY – A 38-year-old woman was seriously injured in a stabbing attack inside the macy’s flagship store in Herald Square,Manhattan,on Thursday afternoon. Police have arrested a suspect, Kerri Aherne, 43, of Tewksbury, Massachusetts, and have charged her with attempted murder, assault, and weapon possession.
The incident occurred shortly after 3:00 PM EST on February 8, 2024, within the iconic department store located at 151 West 34th Street. According to police reports and statements from law enforcement officials, the victim suffered stab wounds to the back and a laceration to the arm in what authorities are describing as a completely unprovoked attack.
Emergency Medical Services transported the victim to Bellevue Hospital, where she is currently receiving treatment.As of Friday morning,february 9,2024,she is expected to survive her injuries.
Following an examination, the New York Police Department apprehended kerri Aherne at the scene. She is currently awaiting arraignment. Information regarding legal counsel for Ms. Aherne was not promptly available.
