Parking predicament: Man’s car Buried under Snow Receives Multiple Tickets
He said, “There was nothing I could do.”
But don’t worry, he won’t actually have to pay the fines… probably. The council in charge — clearly not great communicators — still hasn’t let him know directly one way or the other. They apparently commented on a video he posted online, but have neglected to send any official notice.
But how did this happen in the first place?
Parking Ticket Confusion Resolved After Accessible Space Blocked for Filming
A recent incident involving blocked accessible parking and issued, then cancelled, parking tickets has been clarified by local authorities. The situation arose when a film crew utilized an accessible parking space, prompting a complaint and subsequent social media attention.
According to officials, the contractor responsible for the filming took a photograph of the vehicle parked in the accessible space, ensuring the owner wouldn’t receive a fine. However, a parking attendant, unaware of the situation, issued parking tickets which were afterward cancelled. “The contractor took a picture of the car, so we knew not to give the owner a fine. Regrettably, one of our parking attendants was not informed and issued parking tickets. However, these were not processed into fines because we had a note on the system from our contractor. The tickets were cancelled a week before the video was uploaded to social media, and we have apologized for the confusion,” officials stated.
Despite the resolution of the ticketing issue, the individual who initially requested the accessible parking space highlighted the importance of proactive dialogue with residents. “It’s the same as doing an extension or any other road work – you let people know,” he said. “Without any communication with your community, that’s the wrong way to do it.”
This incident underscores the need for clear communication protocols when temporary disruptions to public access, such as those caused by filming, occur.
