North Korea‘s leader, Kim Jong Un, held a festive ceremony in Pyongyang to welcome home troops who had served with the Russian military in the war against Ukraine.
During the event, Kim gave hugs to the wounded soldiers and awarded honorary degrees to the fallen.
North korea’s Central News Agency (KCNA) reported on Saturday (12/13) that Kim praised the “mass heroism” of the returning Korean People’s Army’s 528th Engineer Regiment, after they served in Russia’s Kursk region.

Kim praised the regiment’s performance during its 120-day overseas deployment, which began in early August 2025.
