Toulon Secure Bonus-Point Win against Bath After Edinburgh Defeat
The Rugby Club Toulonnais (RCT) rebounded from their opening defeat against Edinburgh with a 45-34 bonus-point victory against reigning English champions Bath this Sunday at Mayol.
RCT initially led with three tries from Alainu’uese (12th minute), Brex (32nd minute), and drean (54th minute), while Bath responded with two of their own through Hill (20th minute) and Carreras (50th minute). Despite this, Finn Russell’s teammates remained competitive for much of the match. A crucial try from ludlam (66th minute) extended Toulon’s lead, and despite a late effort from Bath’s Hennessey (75th minute), Toulon sealed the win with a final try from baubigny (80th+1 minute).
Pierre Mignoni’s team, who reached the quarter-finals last year before falling to Toulouse at Mayol, face a challenging January schedule, including a home match against Munster (january 11th) and an away trip to Gloucester (January 17th).Pool 2 is proving highly competitive, with all teams currently holding one win and one defeat after two rounds. Bath currently leads the pool with 6 points, having secured an offensive bonus point despite suffering only their second defeat of the season across all competitions.
