Apple TV App on Android Gains Google Cast Support

Apple has integrated Google Cast functionality into its Apple TV app for android, enabling users to stream content directly to compatible televisions and streaming devices. The update, version 2.2.0, brings a long-awaited feature to the app, which initially launched in February 2015.

this addition allows Android users to easily mirror content from the Apple TV app – including movies, TV shows, and Apple TV+ originals – onto larger screens using Google’s widely adopted casting technology. Following the update, a Cast icon will appear within the app, facilitating a seamless streaming experiance to any Google Cast-enabled device on the same Wi-Fi network.

The integration of Google Cast enhances the versatility of the Apple TV app on Android, providing a more convenient viewing option for users who prefer to utilize their existing smart TV infrastructure or streaming media players. This move aligns with Apple’s broader strategy of expanding the accessibility of its services across multiple platforms, catering to a wider audience beyond its own ecosystem.
