MHRA Asks for Yoru Views on AI in Healthcare
The medicines and healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) is asking the public, healthcare workers, industry experts, and healthcare providers to share their thoughts on how AI in healthcare should be regulated. This is part of a “Call for Evidence” launched today, december 18, 2025.
This details will help the newly formed National Commission into the Regulation of AI in Healthcare. The Commission includes leading AI experts, doctors, regulators, and patient advocates, and will advise the MHRA on future rules for AI in healthcare.
This is a chance for everyone – patients, healthcare professionals, innovators, and the general public – to help create new standards and safeguards for using AI in healthcare.
Your feedback will help the MHRA regulate new AI technologies in the NHS and other healthcare settings. This will encourage innovation while making sure AI meets the needs of patients and their families.
The MHRA wants to hear from everyone, even if you don’t no much about AI in healthcare. They want your ideas on what rules should be in place to ensure AI is used safely.

- Updating the rules for AI in healthcare: Are the current rules good enough, or do they need to change to keep up with new technology?
- Keeping patients safe as AI improves: As AI systems get better and are used in new ways, how can we quickly find and fix problems, especially with AI that can learn and change?
- clarifying who is responsible: What should be the roles and responsibilities of regulators, companies, healthcare organizations, and individuals when using AI in healthcare?
Lawrence Tallon, Chief Executive of the MHRA, who recently took on the role and started the Commission, said:
