Thirteen years ago, Marie Majkusová captivated audiences in the fairy tale Twelve Moons, playing the charming maruška. While this role seemed like a promising launchpad for her acting career, she didn’t land any other significant film parts. But Majkusová isn’t discouraged. She’s traded acting for teaching at a forest kindergarten and is busy raising two young children. In an interview with Slovak Theater, she mentioned a possible return to acting someday.

In Karel Janák’s Twelve Moons, Maruška was portrayed as kind, cheerful, and a little mischievous. Despite the film receiving a 56 percent rating on ČSFD, the character of Maruška resonated strongly with viewers.“An unwatched, very pretty and natural girl. I finished watching basically just as of the nice Maruska,” people commented online.

This role had the potential to kickstart Majkusová’s acting career, but it didn’t pan out that way. She didn’t receive any other major roles and ultimately decided to leave acting behind.
