NEW ORLEANS – The New Orleans Privateers women’s basketball team was locked in a tough battle with the Nicholls Colonels but ultimately fell short in a 69-62 decision on Wednesday evening at the Convocation Centre.
The Privateers (4-11, 1-4 SLC) had three players score in double figures, led by Kayla Miller with 16 points. Justice Ross added 14 adn Imani Robinson chipped in with 10. Nicholls (8-7,3-2 SLC) was led by Chyna Kinsey who had a game-high 22 points.
New Orleans started strong, taking a 20-14 lead after the first quarter. They shot 7-of-14 from the field and were 6-of-6 from the free throw line. However, Nicholls responded in the second quarter, outscoring the Privateers 22-12 to take a 36-32 lead into the half.
The third quarter saw both teams trade baskets, with Nicholls maintaining a slight advantage. The Colonels extended their lead to as many as eight points in the fourth quarter, but New Orleans fought back to within three with under a minute to play. Though, Nicholls closed the game on a 6-2 run to secure the victory.
The Privateers will be back in action on Thursday, January 8th, when they travel to Southeastern for a 6 p.m. matchup. The game will be broadcast on ESPN+.

NEW ORLEANS – The New Orleans Privateers women’s basketball team battled fiercely but ultimately succumbed to a decisive third-quarter run,resulting in a 72-63 loss to the East Texas A&M Lions on Saturday at Lakefront Arena. Despite a closely contested first half, the Privateers were unable to overcome the Lions’ surge in the second half.
The game remained a tight affair through the opening two quarters, with both teams struggling to find offensive rythm. east Texas A&M held a narrow 26-24 lead at halftime, as neither team managed to shoot above 32 percent from the field. strong defensive efforts from both sides contributed to the challenging shooting conditions throughout the first 20 minutes.
