“All of us heard loud screaming, the kind of screaming someone makes when you accidentally drop something,” Rodriguez explained.
Rodriguez’s parents, who were visiting at the time, also corroborated hearing the commotion from their balcony. She further testified that the occupant of the apartment, Natalie, left instantly after the incident and that individuals believed to be Natalie’s parents were later seen removing belongings from the unit.
Lawsuit Alleges Negligence and Over-Serving of Alcohol
Attorney Tony Buzbee, representing the Aguilera family, has filed a lawsuit in Travis County against the Austin Blacks Rugby and the University of Texas latin Economics and Business Association [1]. The suit alleges that these organizations illegally over-served alcohol to individuals, including minors, at a tailgate event Aguilera attended prior to her death. “By filing this lawsuit, not only will we hold accountable an entity or entities that were involved in over-serving Brianna and other minors, but we will also be able to subpoena individuals and documents and video and data so we can continue our investigation,” Buzbee said.
The family is seeking at least $1 million in damages, citing gross negligence and the resulting grief, bereavement, torment, and mental anguish.
