Government Fully Implementing Constitutional Court Decisions: Minister of Law

JAKARTA, Indonesia – January 7, 2026 – Indonesia’s Minister of Law adn Human Rights, Supratman Andi Agtas, affirmed today that the government is fully compliant with decisions handed down by the Constitutional Court (MK). This statement underscores the government’s commitment to the rule of law and the importance of judicial review in the Indonesian legal system.

Commitment to Constitutional Court Rulings

Minister Supratman stated that the government diligently carries out every decision made by the Constitutional Court, as emphasized by the Court’s Chairman, Suhartoyo. “It must be implemented. What government decision is not being implemented regarding the Constitutional Court’s rulings? It is being implemented. Is there anything the government is not implementing?” he questioned, during a meeting at the constitutional Court Building in Central Jakarta [[1]].

He further clarified that any laws deemed unconstitutional by the MK will be promptly revised by the government. “Yes, definitely, it will be implemented. If the Constitutional Court declares somthing contrary to the Constitution, it will be implemented directly by the government,” Supratman added.

Upholding the Rule of Law

This commitment echoes the sentiments of Chief Justice suhartoyo, who previously stressed the necessity of adhering to all court decisions as a fundamental aspect of the rule of law [[1]]. “As an embodiment of the principle of the rule of law, every court decision, including Constitutional Court decisions, should be obeyed and implemented,” Suhartoyo stated.
