Body Found in Search for Missing Man

The body of a 21-year-old man has been recovered in Belfast, following a week-long search. Police confirmed the discovery on January 7, 2026, after a search operation focused on the River Lagan.

The recovered body has been formally identified as Taylor Stewart, who had been missing since January 1, 2026. The Irish Mirror first reported on stewart’s disappearance earlier this week.

The scene has been sealed off by police, with a cordon currently in place. Investigations are ongoing, but authorities have stated there are no suspicious circumstances surrounding the death at this time.

Community Rescue Service volunteers worked alongside the Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI) throughout the week, conducting extensive searches of the area surrounding the River Lagan. Their efforts were crucial in locating Mr. Stewart.

The PSNI have been contacted for comment and will be releasing further details as the investigation progresses. The PSNI website provides updates on ongoing investigations and public appeals.
