RMAF Confirms Officer Involvement in Misconduct, Promises Disciplinary Action
Kuala Lumpur – The Royal Malaysian Air force (RMAF) has confirmed that 20 of its officers were directly implicated in recent allegations of immoral activity occurring at military camps, following preliminary investigations.
RMAF Chief Muhammad Norazlan Aris stated that those found responsible will be prosecuted and judged according to the laws and legal provisions governing the Malaysian Armed Forces.
“RMAF takes any breach of orders, directives, and regulations with the utmost seriousness, and decisive action will be implemented without compromise,” he affirmed in a statement released on Saturday (Jan 10), as reported by local media.
The RMAF leadership also expressed regret regarding the incident and emphasized that individuals who failed to enforce existing instructions will also face appropriate consequences.
General Norazlan was firm in stating that the concerning “yeye culture” – a term used to describe the alleged vice culture – does not represent standard practice within the RMAF.
These statements follow the circulation of several videos online, purportedly filmed at military installations including Subang Air Base.the videos, as reported by Free Malaysia Today (FMT), appeared to depict entertainment activities, including the presence of minibars, and instances of inappropriate behavior. Online viewers described the scenes as indicative of an “entertainment culture” among officers.
The Defense Ministry initiated an immediate internal investigation on January 5th to verify the authenticity of the claims and address the allegations.
