Ukrainian Forces Secure Kupyansk City Council, Continuing Offensive operations
Ukrainian military units have successfully liberated the Kupyansk City Council building, marking a significant step in the ongoing offensive operations in the region. The operation, led by the 2nd Corps of the National guard, is part of a broader effort by Search and Strike Group “Charter” and tactical Group “Kupjanska” to fully clear the city.
On January 13, 2024, soldiers from the 4th Guards Reconnaissance and Strike Group raised the Ukrainian national flag over the city council building in central Kupyansk, symbolizing the restoration of Ukrainian control. A military statement highlighted the success of the kupyansk operation, attributing it to meticulous planning, comprehensive commander and staff training, and thorough unit preparation – a methodology referred to as the “Charter method.”
“The Kupyansk operation proves that with planning, training of commanders and staff, and also high-quality preparation of units – all of which we call the Charter method – it is possible to successfully stop and destroy the enemy,” the statement read.
Recent data from the Ukrainian army indicates ample Russian losses in the vicinity of Kupyansk between September 22 and December 12. According to these reports, Ukrainian forces eliminated 1,027 Russian soldiers, injured 291, and captured 13 during this period.
