Axelspace Resumes Commercial Operations of GRUS-1E Earth Observation Satellite
Axelspace,a Tokyo-based company specializing in earth observation data,announced the resumption of commercial operations for its small earth observation satellite,GRUS-1E,on January 13,2026.This follows a period of recovery efforts after a malfunction in the satellite’s attitude control function led to a temporary suspension of services in December 2024.
The company successfully recovered the ability to acquire image data from GRUS-1E in march 2025 and later developed an automated operation system to facilitate consistent data acquisition. https://www.axelspace.co.jp/en/news/2026/01/13/grus-1e-resume/
GRUS-1E is part of the AxelGlobe constellation, which aims to provide frequent and high-resolution earth observation data. With the resumption of GRUS-1E’s operations, the constellation is now operating with its full complement of five satellites.
