Mauricio Ruffy Parts ways with Fighting Nerds for Fiziev’s UFC 325 Bout
mauricio Ruffy, head coach of Rafael Fiziev, has confirmed he will not have his usual corner team with him for Fiziev’s upcoming fight at UFC 325. This decision comes as Ruffy navigates personal commitments and logistical challenges.
According to Ruffy, he is currently in Australia working with Alexander Volkanovski, and will be supported by Volk and two other trainers during preparations. He also plans to add one more corner person who is training with Volkanovski and his team.
“One week before Pablo [Fiziev] has Jean Silva’s fight, then after the fight he needs to go stay one month with Caio Borralho in Vegas,” Ruffy explained.
Ruffy also addressed the fact that he has temporarily stepped away from his team, Fighting Nerds, for this fight, stating, “The guys will not be in my corner for this fight… I’m grateful to God because it’s good to know how it works on the side of the story when you lose.” He added that support often feels conditional on success.
The coach is also balancing his professional commitments with new family responsibilities. “He’s a dad right now, he has a baby so I understand this moment of his life,” Ruffy said.
Despite the changes, Ruffy remains confident and focused. “Now I know how it effectively works in the bad moment. I keep in my mind that God is with me all the time so I will become better and better.”
Rafael Fiziev is scheduled to face Benoit Saint-Denis at UFC 325 on April 13th, 2024, in Newark, New Jersey.
