Semco Technologies, a French manufacturer specializing in strategic equipment – known as “eChucks” – for semiconductor production, has announced a meaningful expansion into the Asian market with the opening of a new subsidiary in China. This move is designed to capitalize on the region, which currently accounts for 50% of Semco’s business.
Based in the northeast of China, the new facility will focus on the assembly of Semco’s eChucks, utilizing locally sourced pedestals. Crucially, the subsidiary will also provide complete final equipment testing and after-sales service, supported by a dedicated clean room surroundings.The strategic location was chosen for its proximity to major Asian semiconductor equipment manufacturers, fostering collaboration and streamlining supply chains.
Semco Technologies, which employs 54 people and reported a turnover of €26.4 million in 2024, anticipates the Chinese subsidiary will enhance its responsiveness to Asian clients and accelerate growth within the region. The company’s eChucks are critical components in the semiconductor manufacturing process,and this expansion underscores Semco’s commitment to supporting the global semiconductor industry.
In addition to the expansion news, Semco has appointed Clément Dupuy as its new Technical Director.Dupuy, an engineer specializing in materials science and engineering, joins Semco from ECM Group, its parent company based in Grenoble. His role will be pivotal in accelerating the development of next-generation eChuck technology and strengthening collaborative development efforts with both existing customers and potential clients.
The appointment of Dupuy signals Semco’s dedication to innovation and its focus on maintaining a competitive edge in the rapidly evolving semiconductor equipment market.
