(Reporter Lee Yu-rim, Xports News) In Japan, the head of an entertainment agency was arrested by the police on charges of sexually assaulting an actor.
According to local media on the 16th, Japanese police arrested Takuma Yamanaka (39), CEO of an entertainment agency, on charges of adultery by force in the workplace. He is accused of sexually assaulting A, a female actor in her 20s, at his agency’s office and nearby lodging facilities in Kasugabe City, Saitama Prefecture in August 2023.
Investigating authorities believe that Yamanaka committed the crime by luring the victim outside by saying “let’s go for a walk” and then creating a situation where they were alone. Mr. A reported the incident to the police and is said to have described the situation at the time in relatively detail during the investigation.
However, Yamanaka is known to have completely denied the charges, saying in a police investigation, “There was sexual intercourse, but there was no coercion.”
In relation to this incident, there are a series of criticisms in the local area that it is a typical crime of high power that takes advantage of power relations within the entertainment industry. Accordingly, there are growing voices calling for a thorough investigation into whether additional damage occurred, as well as protection for victims.
The police are currently expanding the investigation, including the circumstances of the crime and whether other crimes were committed.
