Man Detained,Then Released,Highlights Immigration Interaction issues
New York,NY – January 28,2026 – A New York man,Allen Dabrio Marrero,was recently detained by immigration authorities before ultimately being released on a $6,000 bond,sparking concerns about communication failures within the U.S. immigration system. The case has drawn attention from local religious leaders and advocates who believe the ordeal could have been avoided.
Rev.Dr. Lewis of Middle Church criticized the ease with which individuals can be detained and possibly mistreated, stating, “I think we’ve seen that it doesn’t take very much for this administration to detain someone, to mistreat the detainees, to, trump up, no pun intended, a reason to pull someone apart.”
Matthew Marrero, a member of the choir at Middle Church, explained the core issue: a lack of communication between the Executive Office of Immigration Review (EOIR) and U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS).”Those two agencies are basically in charge of your immigration. And they do not communicate with each other,” he said.
Following the rescinding of the removal order and posting of the bond on Tuesday night,Allen Dabrio Marrero is now able to continue pursuing a green card.
Rev. Dr. Lewis celebrated the outcome,attributing it to the power of protest,prayer,and love. “I believe in protest.I believe in prayer, and I believe in love and those three things prevailed for this moment,” she said.
The case underscores ongoing concerns about the complexities and potential pitfalls within the U.S. immigration process.
