The New York Racing Association (NYRA) announced the cancellation of live racing at Aqueduct Racetrack on Saturday and Sunday,February 8th and 9th,due to dangerously low temperatures and wind chills predicted for the New york metropolitan area.
NYRA is collaborating with the New York Thoroughbred Horsemen’s Association and New York thoroughbred Breeders to secure additional race dates from the New York State gaming Commission to compensate for the cancellations.The aim is to reschedule affected races and maintain a full racing calendar.
The $135,000 East View and $135,000 Damon Runyon Stakes, initially planned for Saturday, February 8th, have been rescheduled for February 14th. Entries for these stakes will be accepted on Sunday, February 9th.
Races previously scheduled for Saturday and sunday will be moved to February 19th and 20th, as detailed in the updated Aqueduct winter condition book. This adjustment ensures that horsemen have ample opportunity to participate in scheduled events.
Despite the cancellation of live racing, Aqueduct Racetrack will remain open for simulcast wagering on both Saturday and Sunday, allowing fans to continue enjoying horse racing from other locations.
