AMES, Iowa (KCCI) – A former Iowa high school girls wrestling coach was sentenced to 30 days in jail for recording women while they were changing in a Target store fitting room, KCCI reports.
Michael Leslie Jr., of Maxwell, pleaded guilty to one count of sexual exploitation of a minor and one count of invasion of privacy, an aggravated misdemeanor.
According to court documents, Leslie used his phone to secretly record images of multiple victims while they were changing clothes at the Target store at 320 S. Duff Avenue in Ames.
Police arrested Leslie in spring 2025 and found multiple images of victims on his phone. He was originally charged with one count of sexual exploitation of a minor and three counts of invasion of privacy involving nudity. Two charges were dismissed as part of a plea agreement.
KCCI reports that Leslie worked as an assistant coach for the Nevada High School girls wrestling team. Nevada Community School District Superintendent Steve Gray confirmed Leslie left the position after the 2024-25 season ended.
Leslie is also required to register as a sex offender.
