A total of 504 TNI-Polri personnel cleaned up rubbish in the Babakan market area, Kota Tangerang. The market location was cleaned because it was the center of community activity.

This activity took place on Sunday (8/2/2026) morning. Tangerang City Metro Police Chief Commissioner Raden Muhammadjauhari said the clean-up activity was carried out as a follow-up to government directives.

“Today we, together with the ranks of the TNI, Tangerang City Government, Satpol PP, and the community’s potential, carried out a clean-up at Babakan Market. This is a form of implementing the government’s direction so that all elements are present in society through joint cleaning activities,” said Jauhari in his statement, Sunday (8/2).

Joint personnel combed and cleaned areas inside and outside the market, starting from trader stalls, gutters, to parking areas. The market location was chosen because it has the potential to harm health if it is not cleaned.

“The market is a concern because it is active almost 24 hours a day, so if it is not cleaned regularly it will cause a buildup of rubbish and disrupt environmental health,” he said.

Also present was Dandim 0506/Tangerang Colonel Inf. Ary Sutrisno. Also present were Deputy Chief of Police for Metro Tangerang City AKBP Eko Bagus Riyadi, main police officers, TNI personnel, Satpol PP, Pokdarkamtibmas, Senkom, and members of the Saka Bhayangkara Scouts.

“We hope that this spirit of mutual cooperation will be followed by the whole community so that environmental cleanliness is maintained. Waste that is managed well can even be used as fertilizer and supports food security programs. With togetherness, it is hoped that Tangerang City will be cleaner, neater and more comfortable for all,” he said.

Previously, President Prabowo Subianto asked the ranks of the central and regional governments, BUMN, TNI and Polri to step in to clean up the rubbish. Prabowo emphasized that waste is a crucial problem.

This order was conveyed by Prabowo at the National and Regional Government Coordination Meeting in Sentul, Bogor, West Java, Monday (2/2). Prabowo asked regional heads, TNI and Polri personnel to carry out corvee (community service) or in French called corvee to clean up rubbish.

“Governor, regent, high school, middle school, elementary school, under your control, what’s so difficult? Whether it’s Saturday or Friday, everyone at school gathers on this beach, this is our beach, this is our yard, let’s clean it up,” he said.

“Corvée, what’s wrong if I can’t order regents and governors and commanders and brakes. I order you, move your men, corvée every day or how many days, corvée, corvée, corvée. Police deploy corvée, corvée, corvé,” he said.
