Here is a complete listing of all Lenten small groups, ongoing ministries and Lent-related events happening during Lent 2026, in the order of their beginning sessions. Each would make a meaningful addition to your Lenten journey.
Monday Night Meditation
Mondays, 6:45-8:00 p.m. in the Chapel. Every week our open gathering of people sitting together and walking together in the Great Silence confirms the mysterious healing power of the Spirit. Beginning meditators, practitioners from Buddhist, Catholic, Anglican and other traditions are all transformed together on Mondays at 6:45 p.m. both on Zoom and in the chapel. All are welcome. Why not try it on for Lent?
Tuesday Centering Prayer
Tuesdays, 7:00-8:00 p.m. on Zoom. Centering Prayer is a meditation practice that is centered in the contemplative
Christian tradition. A sacred word is chosen as your symbol of intention to consent to God’s presence and action within. Your word is used to focus your attention so that when thoughts or sensations arise you return gently to the sacred word. The prayer is done in silence for a 20 minute period. Make this part of your Lenten Tuesdays?
Worship in the Style of Taizé
Wednesdays, 6:10-7:00 p.m. in the Chapel. Prayer in the Taizé style of worship is quiet and reflective, deeply peaceful and joyful. It is simple songs and chants, readings, silences and meditative prayers. Songs are sung many times over as a prayer of the heart and the focus of this service is on Christ and the cross, reconciliation and prayers for the suffering throughout the world. 7:30 p.m. in the Church, a bilingual Spanish/English service
Ash Wednesday is the first day of Lent, the 40-day period of fasting before Easter. On Ash Wednesday, ashes are blessed, mixed with either holy oil or water, and imposed on the head with the sign of the cross, or sprinkled on the forehead. The ashes are made from burning palm branches blessed the previous year on Palm Sunday. When a minister imposes the ashes they say “Remember that you are dust, and to dust you will return.” Information = Melissa Hayes at mhayes@allsaints-pas.org.
Statecraft as Soulcraft: A Socratic Journey led by David Hunt
Thursdays, February 19 – March 26, 6:00-7:30 p.m., on Zoom. A six-week Lenten Zoom series meeting on Thursday evenings from February 19th through March 26th centered on selected readings from Plato’s Republic and one film for discussion. Though pre-Christian, Plato profoundly shaped Christian thinkers such as Augustine and Boethius, whose works have been the focus of previous All Saints Lenten studies. The Republic offers a rich framework for Lenten reflection by linking the formation of the soul with the health of society, using vivid stories like the Allegory of the Cave and the Ring of Gyges to explore justice, desire, power, and hope. Both philosophical and spiritually resonant, the series invites participants into thoughtful, guided conversation about moral integrity, public life, and what it means to align oneself with the deeper moral order of the world in a time of social and political strain. Register here.
