Great Britain has extended the term of the general license for Lukoil’s subsidiaries in Bulgaria, the Ministry of Energy announced.
As a result of the consistent actions taken at the government level since the first day after the introduction of the sanctions, our country provides stability and peace of mind for Bulgarian citizens and businesses, the announcement states. The ministry adds that they continue to work closely with international partners to preserve jobs, ensure the trouble-free operation of the Bulgarian refinery and guarantee the energy security of the country.
The general license includes the companies “Lukoil Bulgaria“, “Lukoil Neftohim Burgas”, “Lukoil Aviation Bulgaria” and “Lukoil – Bulgaria Bunker”. The license came into effect on November 14, 2025, and after a series of talks between the Minister of Energy and foreign partners, the term was extended to August 13, 2026. The license was initially valid until February 14, 2026.
Earlier today on its website, the British Financial Sanctions Enforcement Office of the Ministry of Finance reported that It’s Britain today extended the term of the general license for the subsidiaries of the Russian concern”Lukoil” in Bulgaria.
In October of Britain imposed sanctions on the Russian company, later issuing a special license allowing transactions with its Bulgarian companies to ensure their normal operations. The renewed license was extended, which allowed companies and banks to carry out transactions with “Lukoil Bulgaria” EOOD, “Lukoil Neftohim Burgas” AD, “Lukoil-Bulgaria Bunker” and “Lukoil Aviation Bulgaria”, as well as with their subsidiaries, until February 2026, BTA recalls.
In Bulgaria, the government appointed special commercial manager for the four companiesto manage Lukoil’s assets until the company completes the sale process. “Lukoil” then announced that it reserves the right to seek legal protection and stated that the manager’s activity should not hinder the sale of its assets in our country.
