The market insurtech dell’America Latina experienced strong expansion in 2025, continuing the path of consolidation and maturation begun in previous years. According to the 11th edition of Mapfre’s “LatAm Insurtech Journey” reportthe number of companies active in the sector has risen to 536while overall investments have reached 199 million dollarsmarking an increase in 117% compared to 2024.
This is the third best result ever, after the peaks recorded in the years 2021 and 2022, considered the periods of maximum boom for the Latin American insurtech sector. However, current growth is defined as more solid and sustainable, driven by more robust and scalable business models. The improvement in the region’s mortality rate, down 8%, combined with the continued flow of new start-ups, suggests a more mature ecosystem capable of supporting innovation in the long term.
In the last four years the sector has undergone a profound transformation: almost half of start-ups (48%) have gone out of businessma 330 new businesses they were created in the same time frame. This dynamic also led to a geographical rebalancing: Brazil’s share on the regional total it fell from 33% al 28%while maintaining its role as the main market together with Mexico e Chile. At the same time, the number of start-ups operating beyond national borders is growing, a sign of progress regional integration and cross-border growth.
Another structural change highlighted by the report concerns the very nature of the insurtech model. If in the past the market was dominated by initiatives linked to the distribution of policies, today Over half of companies (51%) focus on “technology enablement”: digital platforms, infrastructures and solutions that support the entire insurance value chain.
