Mercedes Shined: Carnival Night Emotion & Feeling

With an imposing setting of families on 29th Avenue, the 2026 edition of the most popular party in the city began. The recognition of Ilusión Murguera for its quarter of a century and the deployment of local and invited groups marked an unforgettable opening day.

The night began with the push of Renewing Illusionswhich since 2014 has paved the way with dance and color. He was followed by Mercedina Carnival Schoolunder the direction of Mónica Garro and Miriam Salanueva, which once again surprised with its constant innovation in Afro-Brazilian aesthetics and an increasingly large group.

Guests and tributes on the catwalk

From Tres Arroyos, the batucada Lionheart (directed by Claudia Ronccoli) won the spontaneous applause of the Mercedino public for its technical quality. Shortly after, the mystique of the north arrived with the troupe “Let the carnival take me”which gave one of the most emotional moments when remembering historical figures of our party with a heartfelt musical composition.

The Silver Wedding of Ilusión Murguera

One of the high points was the passage of Illusion Murguera. Celebrating their 25 years of experiencethe group of Guillermo Chirino and Noemí dazzled with live music and the voice of Fernanda Ottolini.

The mayor Juani Ustarroz and the director of Culture, Jimena Rivasthey presented a plaque of recognition to the murga. «Only when there is love can the work and effort of so many people be maintained. A “Pueblada” closure

The finishing touch was by Injured by Cork. With your proposal “Pueblada”the group explored the feelings of everyday life, friendship and the “here and now.” With the musical direction of Fito González, the choreography of Luciana Troglio and the general direction of the Florella sisters, the closing was the perfect seal for the first evening.

What’s next: Candombe Saturday

This Saturday the party continues early. The schedule indicates:

1. Opening: It will be in charge of the candombe troupe Cumbará.

2. Assessment: The jury (Pablo Russo, Vanesa Aschero and Franco Ramírez) will continue to rate every detail on the way to the 2026 awards.
