Mary Josephine Cawley: A Celebration of Life

Mary Josephine Cawley (née Gilmartin), of Cloonbarry, Aclare, Co. Sligo, Ireland, passed away peacefully at Ballymote Community Nursing Home on Sunday, February 15th, 2026, surrounded by her family. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend whose memory will be cherished by all who knew her.

A Life Well-Lived

Born to Tom and Teresa Gilmartin, Mary was predeceased by her brothers, Francie, Michael, and Thomas-Bernard. She is survived by her husband, Patrick Francis Cawley; her son, James; and her daughters, Teresa, Pauline, Collette, and Bernadine. She is likewise remembered fondly by her sons-in-law, grandchildren, nieces, nephews, relatives, neighbors, and friends.

Funeral Arrangements

Mary will repose at Coen’s Funeral Home, The Square, Tubbercurry (F91 P668) on Tuesday, February 17th, from 5 p.m. Until 7 p.m., with removal at 7:30 p.m. To St. Attracta’s Church, Tourlestrane, for a prayer service at 8 p.m. The Mass of the Resurrection will be held on Wednesday, February 18th, at 12 noon, followed by burial in Kilmactigue Cemetery.

The family requests that the house remain private during this time.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Alzheimer Society of Ireland. A Book of Condolence is also available online.
