St. Cloud Man Charged in Kidnapping and Sexual Assault Case
A St. Cloud, Minnesota man, Marquell Steven Goree, 55, has been charged with kidnapping and multiple counts of first-degree criminal sexual conduct following a five-day ordeal reported by the victim, identified as CRL. The alleged crimes occurred in December 2025, with the victim reporting the assault to police on January 30th, 2026.
Details of the Alleged Assault
According to court documents, CRL initially agreed to clean Goree’s house for payment, a task she had previously performed once before. Upon arriving at Goree’s residence in the 600 block of 6th Street South, she alleges he began making unwanted advances and demanded she remove her clothing. When she refused and attempted to depart, Goree allegedly brandished an eight-inch switchblade knife, threatened her, and physically restrained her.
The victim stated she was sexually assaulted multiple times over the course of her captivity. Goree allegedly took her clothes and provided her with a blue bathrobe, controlling her movements and escorting her to and from the bathroom. She reported that Goree threatened to kill her and kept multiple knives readily accessible.
Escape and Arrest
CRL was eventually allowed to leave after informing Goree she had a scheduled probation appointment. She left a pair of Sorel boots at the residence. Law enforcement subsequently executed a search warrant at Goree’s home, recovering the blue bathrobe, the boots matching the victim’s description, a switchblade, three additional knives, and other evidence potentially linked to the alleged assaults. KNSI Radio and WJON both reported on the execution of the search warrant.
Goree’s Statement and Charges
During questioning, Goree admitted CRL had been at his house but claimed she was there to purchase boots and left them behind as they did not fit, then departed for a probation appointment. He denied any sexual contact with the woman.
Marquell Goree has been charged with two counts of first-degree criminal sexual conduct and one count of kidnapping. Stearns County Jail records indicate he was booked on February 11, 2026.
Previous Allegations
Investigators discovered a prior complaint involving Goree, where his roommate reported he frequently brought unwanted guests to the house from Lincoln Center and Place of Hope.
