Man Dies in Fredrikstad Apartment Fire

One man died after a fire broke out in an apartment building in Fredrikstad, Norway, late Monday evening. Emergency services responded to the scene on Kråkerøy shortly before 11:40 PM local time.

Details of the Incident

Police were initially alerted to a disturbance at the address before receiving reports of a fire, according to operations leader Melissa Krag at the Øst Police District as reported by NRK. Firefighters quickly arrived and extinguished the blaze.

A man was found unconscious inside the apartment and life-saving measures were immediately initiated. He was later pronounced dead. Authorities have notified the man’s next of kin.

Damage and Investigation

The fire was contained to one apartment on the first floor, but a neighboring apartment was rendered uninhabitable. The resident of the second apartment was transported to a hospital for a check-up as detailed by VG.

Police have launched an investigation to determine the cause of the fire. As of Tuesday morning, the cause remains unknown.

Emergency Response

All emergency services, including fire, health, and police, responded to the incident. A rescue helicopter from Rygge was also dispatched to the scene according to NRK.
