A car accident near the village of Voivodovo, Haskovo Province, Bulgaria, on Friday, February 20, 2026, resulted in two fatalities and left two others injured. The incident occurred around 2:30 p.m. When a vehicle left the road and fell into a ravine shortly after the turnoff to Kardzhali.

Details of the Accident

The vehicle involved was an Opel, driven by a 56-year-aged man from Haskovo. Three passengers were too in the car: two women, aged 45 and 66 and an 8-year-old boy. The driver and the 66-year-old woman died at the scene. The 45-year-old woman and the 8-year-old boy were transported to Haskovo General Hospital for medical treatment.

Road Closure and Traffic Diversion

Authorities closed the road to Voivodovo to traffic although emergency services worked at the scene. Motorists were diverted through nearby fields to bypass the closure.

Preliminary Investigation

Initial investigations suggest the driver lost control of the vehicle, leading to it leaving the road and falling into the ravine. Further investigation is ongoing to determine the exact cause of the accident.
