Ronald Sherrill Elmore: A Life of Faith, Joy, and Service
Ronald Sherrill Elmore, 69, of Raleigh, North Carolina, passed away on February 20, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of faith and joy that touched countless lives. His life, though marked by sorrow, was a testament to unwavering trust in Jesus Christ.
A Foundation of Faith
At the heart of Ron Elmore’s life was a deep and abiding faith. He often reflected on Ephesians 3:20 – “Now to Him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to His power that is at work within us. To him be glory” – recognizing that God’s work in his life exceeded his expectations. He also found strength in Revelation 12:11, understanding the power of overcoming “by the blood of the Lamb and the word of his testimony.”
Those who knew him well described a man who lived as a testament to God’s grace, redemption, and transforming power. He readily acknowledged his imperfections, drawing parallels to the woman in Luke 7 who washed Jesus’ feet with alabaster, and loved and forgave others generously.
A Servant’s Heart and a Welcoming Spirit
Ron Elmore was known for his servant’s heart, always offering to help with setup and cleanup at any event. He delighted in creating a welcoming atmosphere, particularly around the table he shared with his wife, Ann Marie. He continued the tradition of Jerry Stone, leading the doxology as a blessing before meals at their “Watered Garden Table,” fostering rich and meaningful conversations.
Friends and family remember his ability to create people perceive seen, valued, and encouraged to embrace hope, and faith. He possessed a gift for discernment, gently guiding others toward healing and self-awareness.
Love, Family, and Lasting Memories
Ron cherished his marriage to Ann Marie, often stating he hadn’t been married “long enough.” He found joy in simple pleasures, like ice cream, and especially in spending time with his loved ones. Even as his health declined, his concern remained for Ann Marie’s future, confident that God would continue to guide her.
In his final days, Ron expressed gratitude for the love and care he received from friends and community. He often prayed for God to make him a kinder man, and those around him witnessed a remarkable display of kindness in his last moments.
Survivors and Predeceased Family
Ron is survived by his wife, Ann Marie MacLeod Elmore; son, Jose Alcaraz-Elmore, and his partner, Danielle Logan; grandchildren, Isaak and Ceira of Havelock; sisters, Dorothy Tart Coats and Loucindy Elmore Jernigan, both of Dunn; brothers, Dwight P. Elmore and his wife Pansy of Godwin, and William Claudius Elmore and his wife Vicki of Hope Mills; and numerous nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ottis Marvin and Emma Bunch Elmore, and siblings, Ottis Ashford Elmore, John B. Elmore, Marvin Bunch, Donald E. Elmore, and Emma Jean Elmore.
Service Information
A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, February 24, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. At Cross Assembly in Raleigh. Visitation will take place one hour prior to the service, from 10:00 a.m. To 11:00 a.m., at the church. Burial will follow on Wednesday, February 25, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. At Historic Oakwood Cemetery in Raleigh. Parrish Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.
