Neven Maguire to Host Charity Cookery Demonstration in Donegal for Downstrands Family Resource Support Fund
Fermanagh chef Neven Maguire will lead a cookery demonstration at the Clanree Hotel in Letterkenny, Donegal, on Monday, March 9, 2026, to benefit the Downstrands Family Resource Support Fund. Tickets are selling quickly, and the event has garnered significant support from businesses across Donegal.
Supporting Local Families
The Downstrands Family Resource Support Fund provides assistance to families and individuals in the Portnoo, Ardara, Glenties, and Rosbeg areas of Donegal. The organization’s recent Christmas Appeal, organized by Barrie Quinn of Portnoo Market Garden, raised an impressive €55,000 in December to support families in need.
Event Details and Fundraising Success
The upcoming cookery demonstration is already proving successful, with sponsorships exceeding €3,000 and raffle/auction prizes valued at over €4,000. Maguire, owner of the acclaimed MacNean House and Restaurant in Blacklion, will share his culinary expertise with a limited audience of 600 ticket holders.
Artisan Food Showcase and Community Involvement
Ten local artisan food producers will showcase their products at the event, enhancing the overall experience. Sponsors include iMotors, Sliabh Liag Distillers, the Clanree Hotel, and Nancy’s Bar, Ardara, demonstrating strong community backing. Raffle and auction prizes include All-Ireland Final tickets, hotel stays at Harvey’s Point, festival tickets for the Ballymaloe Festival of Food, and a glamping experience from The Bee Pods.
Maguire is known for his charitable work, having recently led a cookery demonstration in Fermanagh to support the development of a new Cancer Focus centre in Enniskillen.
