West Virginia University to Host Annual ‘Pie A Professor’ Fundraiser

West Virginia University’s (WVU) Physics and Astronomy Graduate Student Organization (PAGSO) will host its annual “Pie A Professor” fundraiser on Wednesday, March 11, 2026. The event allows students and supporters to donate to see their favorite faculty members pied in the face with whipped cream.

Supporting Student Success

Proceeds from the “Pie A Professor” fundraiser will directly benefit student activities, scholarships, and the PAGSO Relocation Closet. The Relocation Closet provides new and gently used household items to students in the Department of Physics and Astronomy, easing the transition for those relocating to pursue their studies. Learn more about the Relocation Closet here.

Participating Professors

Six faculty members from the Department of Physics and Astronomy are participating in the 2026 fundraiser:

  • Professor Maura McLaughlin
  • Professor Earl Scime
  • Professor Mikel Holcomb
  • Professor Thomas Steinberger
  • Professor Emmanuel Fonseca
  • Professor Duncan Lorimer

The professors who receive the most donations will be the recipients of the whipped cream pies. More information about the event can be found here.

How to Participate

Donations can be made to support specific professors. Those interested in donating or learning more about the event can do so through the official WVU calendar event page. Questions about the event can be directed to event lead Brett Ballard.
