Liam Gallagher and Nicole Appleton Repair Relationship, Find Friendship After Bitter Split
Nicole Appleton has revealed she and her ex-husband, Oasis frontman Liam Gallagher, have rebuilt their relationship and are now friends, 13 years after a highly publicized and acrimonious split. The All Saints singer, 51, and Gallagher, 53, were married in 2008 and separated in 2013.
A Tumultuous Divorce and Its Impact on Their Son
The couple’s divorce was finalized in April 2014, following revelations of Gallagher’s infidelity and the birth of his daughter, Gemma, with American journalist Liza Ghorbani . Appleton shared that the breakup was particularly hard for their son, Gene, who was just 12 years old at the time.
Finding Support Through Family Guy
Appearing on Sophie Ellis-Bextor’s Spinning Plates podcast, Appleton described how she and Gene leaned on each other during the challenging period. “When Liam and I separated, Gene was 12. He slept next to me,” she recounted. “Him and I would sit next to each other and watch Family Guy every night, religiously. It was our thing… He loved Family Guy, so it was like okay we’ll watch Family Guy. I think he felt like my protector.”
A Renewed Bond and Gene’s Support
Despite the initial difficulties, Appleton stated that the relationship has significantly improved. “For a while now we all acquire on really well, Gene gets on well with his Dad, it’s the best,” she said. Gene’s close relationship with his father was further demonstrated when he accompanied Gallagher on the Oasis reunion tour last year.
Gene’s Influence and Family Harmony
Appleton, now married to Meta executive Stephen Haines and mother to six-year-old daughter Skipper, credits Gene with fostering the positive dynamic. She described his relationship with Skipper as “adorable,” noting that he readily embraces a childlike playfulness with her. Gene also played a role in encouraging Appleton to reunite with her sister, Natalie Appleton, to release a new single, “Falling Into You.”
Liam Gallagher’s Other Children
Liam Gallagher also has son Lennon, 26, from his first marriage to Patsy Kensit, and daughter Molly Moorish-Gallagher, 27, with Lisa Moorish. He is currently engaged to Debbie Gwyther.
