KUALA LUMPUR – Malaysian Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has confirmed his intention to attend the Developing Eight (D8) Organisation for Economic Cooperation Summit in Jakarta, Indonesia, next month. This commitment underscores Malaysia’s dedication to strengthening regional and international cooperation.

Strengthening Bilateral Ties with Indonesia

The Prime Minister’s announcement followed a courtesy call from Indonesia’s newly appointed Ambassador to Malaysia, Raden Mohammad Iman Hascarya Kusumo, at the Parliament Building on Monday, March 2, 2026. During the meeting, both leaders emphasized the importance of enhancing trade and investment cooperation to reflect the close fraternal and strategic relationship between Malaysia and Indonesia [The Sun].

Anwar Ibrahim stated that increased exchange visits and closer communication between top leadership would be crucial for effectively implementing shared agendas [The Sun].
