Odido Faces Mobile Network Outage Following Rotterdam Power Failure
Dutch telecom provider Odido is currently experiencing a widespread mobile network outage impacting customers’ ability to access mobile internet and, for some, television services. The disruption stems from a power outage in the Rotterdam region, according to a company spokesperson.
Cause of the Outage
Odido attributes the current issues to a power outage affecting the Rotterdam area. “We understand that this should be resolved around 10.30 am,” Odido stated to RTL Z. The company anticipates mobile internet service will be restored shortly after power is fully restored.
Reporting and Impact
Reports of problems began surfacing around 5:00 AM on Tuesday, March 3, 2026, as indicated by monitoring site Allestoringen.nl. The majority of affected customers are reporting issues with mobile internet connectivity, although a subset is also experiencing disruptions to their television services.
Recurring Issues and Grid Congestion
Odido notes that its network is increasingly susceptible to disruptions from power outages, a consequence of broader grid congestion issues within the region. The company acknowledges that restarting the network following such outages can present challenges.
Recent Cybersecurity Incident
This outage occurs shortly after Odido was targeted by a significant cybersecurity breach. In February 2026, the hacking group Shinyhunters published data stolen from Odido’s customer service database on the dark web after the company refused to pay a ransom. DutchNews.nl reported that the stolen data included personal information for approximately 6.2 million clients, with hackers claiming access to data for over 10 million customers. The leaked information included bank account numbers, names, addresses, and other sensitive details. Reuters also covered the data leak.
Scam Alert: Fake Compensation Websites
Following the data breach, fraudulent websites have emerged offering compensation to affected Odido customers. NL Times warns that these sites, such as odidoschadeschade.nl, are likely scams attempting to capitalize on the situation. The Consumentenbond advises against providing personal information or paying upfront fees to these websites, as it is too early to file legitimate compensation claims and these sites lack proper verification and transparency.
As of March 3, 2026, Odido is working to resolve the power-related outage and restore full network functionality.
