Nike Expands AI-Driven Supply Chain Capabilities in Bangalore

Nike is bolstering its supply chain and planning technology team in Bangalore, India, seeking a Software Engineer III (Full Stack) to contribute to the development of scalable, cloud-native solutions. This expansion reflects a broader trend of Global Capability Centers (GCCs) establishing and growing within India, leveraging the country’s skilled talent pool and cost advantages.

The Role and Responsibilities

The Software Engineer III will focus on designing and building applications using technologies like React.js, Java or Node.js, Spring Boot, NestJS, PostgreSQL, DynamoDB, and AWS. A key expectation is an “AI Native development mindset” in designing Demand and Supply Planning solutions. The role involves collaborating with product managers, architects, and global engineering teams to modernize planning platforms that directly impact Nike’s global operations.

  • Build and enhance full-stack applications supporting Demand & Supply Planning.
  • Design and deliver scalable, reliable services.
  • Support experimentation and rapid prototyping for AI-driven capabilities.
  • Translate planning needs into technical solutions.
  • Contribute to architecture, code quality, and operational excellence.
  • Mentor junior engineers and participate in code reviews.

Required Skills and Experience

Nike is seeking candidates with 6–9 years of professional software engineering experience. Experience with AI-assisted development tools, such as GitHub Copilot and Cursor, is highly valued. Delivery excellence within a collaborative, multi-discipline development team environment is essential, along with experience in continuous integration, unit testing, and automated integration tests. Familiarity with Scrum and agile principles, and a comfortable working style in a prompt-paced environment are also required.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills are necessary for effective collaboration with both business and technical teams.

Nice-to-Have Skills

While not required, experience with monitoring and tracing tools like Splunk, SignalFx, and New Relic would be beneficial. Exposure to supply chain domain areas – including inventory management, order management, logistics, and warehouse management – is also considered a plus. Experience with relational data stores like MySQL and Oracle, and integrating with enterprise-scale packages like SAP S4, would be advantageous. Understanding of Data Engineering with exposure to airflow, Databricks/Snowflake and AWS is also desirable.

The Growth of GCCs in India

Nike’s investment in its Bangalore capability center aligns with the significant growth of Global Capability Centers (GCCs) in India. As of late 2025, India hosts over 1,800 GCCs, spread across nearly 3,000 delivery units, employing approximately 1.9–2.0 million professionals and contributing over USD 64 billion in annual revenue [1]. These centers are evolving beyond back-office functions to handle core product engineering, AI, analytics, finance, and global operations.

India’s appeal as a GCC destination stems from its unique combination of talent, cost efficiency, and digital infrastructure [2]. The country produces over 2.2 million STEM graduates annually [2], providing a vast pool of skilled professionals.

Nike’s Recruitment Process

Nike emphasizes diversity and inclusion in its teams. The recruitment process involves an initial review, followed by a meeting with the hiring manager and potentially an evaluation. For retail positions, interactive assessments are used. Nike encourages candidates to showcase their unique skills and experience [3].

Looking Ahead

The continued expansion of GCCs in India, including Nike’s investment in Bangalore, signals a long-term commitment to leveraging the country’s talent and innovation ecosystem. This trend is expected to continue, with projections estimating 2,100–2,400 GCCs in India by 2030 [1].
