Georgia Teacher Jason Hughes Dies After Prank Gone Wrong

Jason Hughes, a 40-year-old math teacher at North Hall High School in Gainesville, Georgia, died on March 6, 2026, after being struck by a vehicle during a prank gone wrong. The incident has led to multiple arrests and sparked grief within the school community.

The Incident

According to the Hall County Sheriff’s Office, 18-year-old Jayden Ryan Wallace and four other individuals went to Hughes’ home late Thursday night, March 5, 2026, and covered the trees with toilet paper . When Hughes came outside to confront the group, they fled in two vehicles. Hughes reportedly tripped and fell into the road, where he was struck by a pickup truck driven by Wallace .

Wallace and two others immediately stopped and attempted to provide aid until first responders arrived. Hughes was transported to Northeast Georgia Medical Center in Gainesville, where he was pronounced dead .

Charges Filed

Jayden Ryan Wallace has been charged with first-degree vehicular homicide, reckless driving, criminal trespass, and littering on private property . Elijah Owens, Aiden Hucks, Ariana Cruz, and Ana Katherine Luque, all 18 years old, have been charged with criminal trespass and littering on private property .
