GM Brazil Seeks Automation Manufacturing Engineers in São Caetano do Sul

General Motors (GM) South America is expanding its engineering team in São Caetano do Sul, Brazil, with openings for Automation Manufacturing Engineers. These roles focus on optimizing and implementing automated systems within GM’s Brazilian production facilities, with a strong emphasis on continuous improvement in efficiency, quality, and safety.

Responsibilities

The Automation Manufacturing Engineer will be responsible for:

  • Developing, implementing, and optimizing conveyor solutions for automotive manufacturing processes, from concept to validation.
  • Conducting Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA) to identify and mitigate risks in automated systems.
  • Applying Design for Manufacturability (DFM) principles to ensure optimized designs for automated production.
  • Leading Automation Engineering (Conveyors), defining and documenting workflows, technical specifications, and automation standards.
  • Ensuring compliance with Global Manufacturing System (GMS) guidelines when implementing new technologies and processes.
  • Strictly adhering to Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures to guarantee safety during maintenance and interventions on equipment.
  • Performing Value Stream Mapping (VSM) to identify bottlenecks and opportunities for improvement in automated processes.
  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams, including product engineering, maintenance, and production, to integrate conveyor solutions.
  • Monitoring the performance of automated systems (conveyors), analyzing data, and implementing corrective actions as needed.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Control and Automation Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronic Engineering, or a related field.
  • Practical knowledge of Design for Manufacturability (DFM).
  • Solid experience in Automation Engineering with a focus on conveyors.
  • Experience developing conveyors for the automotive industry.
  • Ability to function effectively in a team and communicate clearly at all organizational levels.
  • Intermediate English proficiency.

Position Details

The position requires on-site presence three days a week (Tuesday through Thursday) in São Caetano do Sul, depending on demand or project requirements. The engineer is expected to demonstrate autonomy with occasional supervision support. GM does not provide immigration-related sponsorship for this role.
