Memphis Teacher Arrested Third Time in Nude Image Case

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Kelsey Whitmore, a 29-year-aged former Memphis-Shelby County Schools (MSCS) teacher, is back in custody for the third time in connection with allegations of sending nude images to a student, according to reports from Action News 5 and FOX13 Memphis.

Details of the Case

Whitmore is accused of giving a student an iPad containing explicit content of herself. She was initially arrested for soliciting sexual exploitation of a minor and sexual exploitation of a minor by electronic means. She was employed as a permit teacher at Sherwood Middle School beginning in August 2025 and was placed on administrative leave on February 9, 2026, according to MSCS.

Recent Arrests and Court Proceedings

Whitmore was arrested again on March 2, 2026, on an aggravated stalking charge, a Class E felony. Her most recent arrest, occurring Monday, was due to a failure to wear a court-ordered ankle monitor, Action News 5 reports. During a court appearance on Tuesday, Judge Sheila Renfroe revoked Whitmore’s bond, stating she will remain in custody until a preliminary hearing.

Judge Renfroe expressed frustration with Whitmore’s repeated violations of court orders. According to court records cited by FOX13 Memphis, Whitmore allegedly contacted the 14-year-old student after being released on bond, violating bond conditions. Investigators also reported that Whitmore had attempted to contact the victim through another teen, suggesting the victim live with her after the case concluded.

Upcoming Court Date

Whitmore is scheduled to return to court on March 24 for a mental evaluation.
