Helinox Updates Popular Camping Chairs with Enhanced Comfort and Sustainability

Helinox has redesigned its popular Sunset Chair and Beach Chair, introducing what the company calls (re) Tension Design. This update focuses on improving comfort, durability, and sustainability while maintaining the packable designs Helinox is known for. The launch follows the recent release of the Chair Zero LT and Table Zero LT, which utilize GhostGrid fabric and weigh under 2 pounds combined .

What is (re) Tension Design?

The (re) Tension Design incorporates a second tension line to better distribute weight across the chair frame, resulting in improved comfort. This builds upon the earlier Chair One (re) redesign, which initiated Helinox’s “(re)” concept – a series of product updates centered around enhancing comfort, durability, and sustainability .

Sunset Chair (re): Enhanced Comfort and Accessibility

The Sunset Chair (re) retains the high backrest that made the original model popular among campers. Updates include longer leg poles, making it easier to get in and out of the chair while continuing to provide support for the neck and shoulders during extended use . The chair sits high off the ground, making it uncomplicated to get in and out of, and is ideal for campers, glampers, loungers, and picnickers .

Beach Chair (re): Stability for Soft Terrain

The Beach Chair (re) takes a different approach with a low seating position. Splayed legs and flat feet help prevent the chair from sinking into sand, making it well-suited for beaches and other soft terrain .

Sustainable Manufacturing

Both chair frames are constructed from repurposed aluminum shavings that would otherwise be discarded. These shavings are refined into alloy discs and then formed into the chair structures, contributing to a more sustainable manufacturing process .
