Lebanon Displacement Crisis Escalates as Conflict Intensifies

The ongoing conflict in the Middle East is driving a massive displacement crisis in Lebanon, with nearly 700,000 people forced from their homes in just over a week. Intensified airstrikes and repeated evacuation orders are fueling panic and exacerbating an already dire humanitarian situation.

Scale of Displacement

As of March 9, 2026, approximately 667,000 people have been displaced across Lebanon, according to authorities UNHCR. This includes around 200,000 children UN News. The displacement adds to the tens of thousands already uprooted from previous escalations.

Evacuation Orders and Airstrikes

Israeli evacuation orders have been reissued three times since the beginning of the war, now covering the entire area south of the Litani River and, for a second time, Beirut’s southern suburbs UN News.
