‘Hoppers’ Holds Top Spot as ‘Reminders of Him’ Debuts with $19-20 Million
Pixar’s Hoppers continues to dominate the box office, earning an estimated $30 million in its second weekend – a 34% decline from its opening. Meanwhile, Universal Pictures’ Reminders of Him, the film adaptation of Colleen Hoover’s novel, exceeded expectations with an opening weekend haul of approximately $19-20 million, securing the second-place position.
Box Office Breakdown
The performance of Reminders of Him, starring Maika Monroe and Tyriq Withers, is particularly notable given its mixed critical reception. The film currently holds a 56% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, and audiences gave it a ‘B’ CinemaScore. Despite this, the film resonated strongly with female audiences, with 81% of ticket buyers identifying as women. Women over the age of 25 comprised the largest demographic, accounting for 57% of attendees, while men under 25 showed little interest, representing only 4% of the audience.
A24’s horror film, Undertone, landed in third place with a debut of around $10 million. While the film received decent reviews from critics (76% on Rotten Tomatoes), audience scores were considerably lower at 53%, and it earned a ‘C’ CinemaScore.
Scream 7 secured the fourth spot with $7.5 million in its third weekend, experiencing a 56% drop. Goat rounded out the top five, earning $5 million.
Underperforming Releases
Last week’s release, The Bride, failed to find an audience, earning just over $7 million in its opening weekend and projected to fall approximately 70% in its second weekend, bringing in around $2.15 million.
