The Department of Agriculture (DA) and the Food Terminal Inc. (FTI) have assured the public that the government’s “Benteng Bigas, Meron Na!” program, offering rice at P20 per kilo, continues to have a sufficient supply despite ongoing anxieties related to the conflict in the Middle East.

Agriculture Secretary Francisco Tiu Laurel Jr. Stated that the National Food Authority (NFA) is continuously milling palay (unhusked rice) to replenish stocks for distribution through KADIWA Program centers and local government units. “We understand that the conflict in the Middle East is stoking anxiety among many Filipinos, especially those in vulnerable sectors,” Laurel said in a statement. “But acting out of panic will only worsen the situation.
